Conference Name: the 40th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for the Study of Xenobiotics
Date & Time: October 23
Location: Kyoto International Exhibition Hall “Miyako Messe”
Title: Evaluation method for drug metabolism mediated by the human gut microbiota
Auther: Kosuke Nagasaka, Koichi Shiga and Kazunobu Aoyama
Presentation number: P-059
Presenter: Kosuke Nagasaka, DMPK Business Unit
Presentation Summary
Although drug metabolism research has mainly focused on the human liver and small intestine, the gut microbiota is currently expected to change pharmacological effects and affect interindividual variability. The methodology of in vitro drug metabolism by the microbiota remains to be standardized, though many studies have evaluated specific bacterial strains using specialized equipment.
In this study, we present a simple and practical standardized method using human fecal samples to evaluate drug metabolism mediated by the gut microbiota.
