Job Shadowing Program for High School Students

On August 19, 2026, we hosted a job shadowing program for two high school students.

Job shadowing is an initiative that gives high school students an opportunity to accompany working professionals and observe their daily work and workplace environment. Through this experience, students can gain a better understanding of what it means to work and explore their future careers and ways of working.

We organized this program for the first time to give the students an opportunity to learn about the drug discovery research environment and to gain insight into the passion and commitment that our employees, including scientists and professionals in various roles, bring to their work every day. During the program, the students received an overview of our business and drug discovery research, toured our workplace and research facilities, and interacted with our employees. Through these activities, they gained a deeper understanding of the work involved in bringing new medicines to patients and the people who contribute to this process.

The students shared their impressions, including: “When I think of healthcare, I tend to picture professions such as doctors and nurses who work directly with patients. This experience made me realize once again that developing new medicines also contributes to supporting the lives and health of many people,” and “I can now picture more concretely the kind of work in healthcare that I would like to pursue in the future.”

We hope that this job shadowing experience will help the students deepen their understanding of drug discovery and the life sciences, while encouraging them to think about their future education, career paths, and possibilities. We will continue to contribute to the development of the life sciences by providing opportunities for the next generation to develop an interest in science and healthcare and broaden their horizons.
